BEAUTIFUL. This is exactly what I needed to read this morning. Midlife is weird and I'm glad you're going to talk about it!

Really, I kinda stopped reading after you called me your friend. Because after all that’s happened, that’s real and true and can’t be lost. 💙

Kara, this was a beautiful surprise in my inbox today. Your writing always feels like a warm hug from a friend who just gets you, and I’ve missed it!

Yes, yes, yes. I’m on the verge of an empty house and I have no idea what comes next but I don’t want to rush through these last 3 years either. I’m so glad you are going to talk about it because it’s not a problem to be solved but what exactly do you do afterwards??

Also, I noticed you weren’t there at your job…you are missed…there is a story but I hope it’s redeemed in the end. Thanks for writing.

I started following you when I began homeschooling my kids. That was...oh, ten years or so ago. My kids are now 9 and 13. They are both in standard school now, for various reasons. The nice thing about reading your work is knowing that you wouldn't be "disappointed" or think I "failed" in any way. We needed something different, so we made the transition. Now they go to a school where they get art classes every day and I have started two new jobs. Life just keeps moving and evolving, doesn't it? Take care, Kara. Glad you are well!

I've missed your writing, Kara. I am in a similar, yet different, circumstance and your thoughts resonate with me. I've also had a job situation explode (10 years ago) and all the feelings to work through were really difficult and took time.

We met at a homeschool convention in Greenville, SC several years ago (maybe 2017 or 2018) and I have followed your blog since before then. I'm glad to hear from you. I'm also contemplating publishing on substack, so you are inspiring me. Thank you.

Hi hi! I would say go for it (writing on Substack), and yet I thought about it for like 2 years. So I know it's not that easy 🩵

I have no idea how I missed this post! This is me too, sweet Kara. I have two that have graduated and one more year left of homeschooling my youngest before he flies away too. We have been lifelong homeschoolers as well and let me tell you it is the weirdest and sneakiest of all the transitions I have made in my adult life! One day you are knee deep in it all thinking it is never going to end and then it's almost done. I also have no idea of what to do next and would also like to begin writing. It's been a dream of mine for some time, but, I don't know how to begin. It's the strangest thing. I am thrilled you are back, Kara, as I have truly missed your voice. I look forward to figuring this new part of life out along side of you.

OOH. Yeah. That's so true. It is a sneaky transition. And many people don't know what's happening or why we are acting confused at the bookstore, just wandering, trying to find a new hobby, I guess ... or a "solution?"

I have some thoughts about writing - I've been thinking for a while about offering a journaling club, and maybe talking about writing through transitions. I would love to know more about what you are looking for (wink, wink).

I think writing has kept me barely/almost sane the past year 💜

Thank you for being here and for subscribing. It lit me up to see your name and note! 💗
